[UPDATE:  No Change For 2012, Inportant:  rates are
subject to change at any time.  The information below is
current as of Jan. 1, 2012.]

2011 MILEAGE RATE:  (Last Increased June 23, 2011)

$.551/2 cents per mile

The witness fee for federal subpoenas requiring the witness to appear at a hearing, trial or
deposition is $40.00 plus the mileage from the witness' residence to the place of
appearance and back (round trip) for one day's appearance.  For instance, if the witness
lives 30 miles from the place of appearance, the fee will be $40.00 basic witness fee plus 60
miles times .551/2 cents.  Yahoo maps can be very helpful in calculating the total mileage.
Just go to
maps.yahoo.com and plug in the starting address and the ending address and
click GO.  Don't forget to double the mileage so the witness can be paid for the round trip
mileage there and back.
